Austin Davis

Austin Davis is a Texas Police Officer with over 30 years of experience in teaching law enforcement, corporations, and individuals how to prevent, manage, and recover from crime. 

 

Since 1989, Austin has served as a professional speaker and owner of Davis Seminars, where he conducted over 2,500 paid Crime Prevention/Personal Protection "Laugh and Learn" seminars for various groups. 

 

As a former professional comedian, He founded and pioneered the concept of comedy defensive driving in Texas in 1988.

 

As a natural teacher, leader, and entrepreneur, Austin has dedicated a large portion of his life to helping people protect what matters most. 

 

Throughout his years teaching, he began to see gaps within modern training systems and sought innovative laugh and learn ways to bridge the comic / cop gap (not easy since world hates a funny cop!).

 

In 1992, Austin became a certified law enforcement pepper spray (OC) instructor to help teach police officers how to properly leverage pepper spray to avoid using lethal force.  

 

In 1996, Austin co-created the Kangaroo Carry Holster as a comfortable, convenient solution for a concealed carry holster. 

 

He has served as both the principal in person traveling use-of-force trainer 2017-2019, and YouTube trainer for US Law Shield with over a million views. Served as the Director of Training for the Texas Concealed Carry Association from 2012-2018.

 

Austin founded the Virtual Tactical Academy (VTA) in 2012, a realistic gunfighting instruction tool using modern adult learning concepts within a virtual reality environment. Through the Virtual Tactical Academy, Austin has personally trained thousands of students on managing critical thinking with realistic virtual reality tools and to better use of force under immense emotional pressure.

 

Building on the VTA concept, Austin developed his patented CCAT (cover, concealment, and angle trainer) in 2016, which is currently in wide use in military and law enforcement across the US.

 

His passion for safety training and street proven teaching methods led to his current role as National Training Director for Concealed Coalition. As the National Training Director, Austin oversees all aspects of the Concealed Coalition curriculum and instruction, ensuring content, quality in both the classroom, VR and range experience.
